Recommended Resources for Nonprofit Technology

  1. Nonprofit Technology Enterprise Network: Great community and conferences organized around technology assistance for nonprofits. Their general listserve is worth the membership fee all by itself. They also organize local meetings of nonprofit technology professionals (see “501C3 Club”).
  2. Social Source Commons: A user generated listing of top technology tools and services targeting the social sector.
  3. TechSoup.org: Reviews and discussions around various technology tools & trends in the social sector and discounted computer software and hardware for nonprofits at http://www.techsoup.org/stock.  
  4. Ideal Ware: “Candid reviews and information about nonprofit software”. They also have a weekly newsletter with software reviews that is well worth a subscription.
  5. Netsquared: A community and gathering point around leveraging social media (and Web 2.0) for nonprofits and NGOs. They also host monthly “Net Tuesday” gatherings in SF and other cities for talks by cutting edge entrepreneurs and innovators in the technology space.  
  6. MobileActive: The leader in leveraging mobile phones for advocacy, organizing and social benefit activities.
